How to use this calculator
Step 1 โ Enter your monthly gross salary in QAR.
Step 2 โ Select your nationality. Qatari nationals contribute 7% to GRSIA (on the contributory wage, capped at QR 100,000/month); expatriates pay no income tax and no social insurance, so net equals gross.
Step 3 โ Hit "Calculate Net Pay". If you're a Qatari national, check the GRSIA line โ many old calculators still use the pre-2022 5% rate, which understates your deduction.
How salary deductions work in Qatar
Qatar levies no personal income tax on salaries, wages or allowances. Under the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA):
| Employee | Deduction |
| Qatari / GCC national | 7% of contributory wage (cap QR 100,000/mo) |
| Expatriate | 0% โ net equals gross |
End-of-service gratuity is an employer accrual under Qatar's labour law โ it is never deducted from your salary.
End-of-service gratuity: 21 days per year, flat
Under Article 54 of Law No. 14 of 2004, you're owed not less than 21 days' basic salary for every year of service โ calculated on basic salary only, allowances excluded. The rate never rises with seniority, and resignation doesn't reduce it (unlike Saudi Arabia and Kuwait). Many contracts grant 30 days/year โ check yours.
Example: 5 years at QAR 8,000 basic, 21-day contract: (8,000 รท 30) ร 21 ร 5 = QAR 28,000. On a 30-day contract: QAR 40,000.
๐งฎ Calculate your exact gratuity โ
Basic vs. allowances: the split decides your gratuity
Because Qatar gratuity uses basic salary only, the allowance split is the single biggest lever on your payout. A QAR 20,000 package with a QAR 14,000 basic accrues 40% more gratuity than the same package with a QAR 10,000 basic. When comparing offers, the basic-salary line matters more than the headline number.

Common mistakes
1. Expecting a 5-year gratuity bump. Qatar's 21-day rate is flat โ it never rises with seniority. Only your contract can improve it.
2. Counting allowances in the gratuity base. Article 54 says basic wage only โ housing and transport allowances are excluded by law.
3. Leaving before completing 1 year. Under one year of service, no statutory gratuity is due at all, however your contract reads.
Worked example: monthly take-home
Qatari national, QAR 25,000/month (basic 18,000 + allowances 7,000): GRSIA = 7% ร 25,000 = QAR 1,750 โ take-home QAR 23,250.
Expatriate, same package: GRSIA 0% โ take-home QAR 25,000 โ the full amount, every month, tax-free.
