Salary Calculator Rwanda 2026 β€” Net Take-Home Pay

Calculate your take-home pay

Estimates only β€” not tax advice. Results are computed from official 2026 tax rules; always verify important decisions with the relevant tax authority.

How to use this calculator

Step 1 β€” Enter your monthly gross salary in Rwandan francs.
Step 2 β€” Hit "Calculate Net Pay". The calculator deducts the 6% RSSB pension first (which reduces your taxable income), then the 0.3% maternity levy, then PAYE on the pension-adjusted amount.
Tip: the pension rate rose from 3% to 6% in January 2025 and climbs further from 2027 β€” if your payslip still shows 3%, it's outdated and this calculator is the accurate one.

Worked examples

Example 1 β€” RWF 300,000/month: pension = 6% Γ— 300,000 = RWF 18,000; maternity = 0.3% Γ— 300,000 = RWF 900. Taxable = 282,000. PAYE = 24,000 + 30% Γ— 82,000 = RWF 48,600. Take-home = 300,000 βˆ’ 18,000 βˆ’ 900 βˆ’ 48,600 = RWF 232,500.

Example 2 β€” RWF 150,000/month: pension = RWF 9,000; maternity = RWF 450. Taxable = 141,000. PAYE = 4,000 + 20% Γ— 41,000 = RWF 12,200. Take-home = 150,000 βˆ’ 9,000 βˆ’ 450 βˆ’ 12,200 = RWF 128,350.

Common mistakes

1. Using the old 3% pension rate. The RSSB reform raised the employee rate to 6% in January 2025 β€” and it rises 2 points yearly from 2027.
2. Forgetting the 0.3% maternity levy. Small, but it's a separate payslip line on top of pension.
3. Deducting maternity before PAYE. Only the pension contribution reduces taxable income; the maternity levy does not.

Deductions explained: pension, maternity, PAYE

Rwanda stacks three deductions. First, RSSB pension: 6% of gross salary (employee share; the employer pays 6% too) β€” and this one does reduce your taxable income. It rose from 3% in the January 2025 reform and climbs 2 points a year from 2027. Second, maternity levy: 0.3% of gross β€” tiny, but it's a separate line and it does not reduce taxable income. Third, PAYE: four bands on (gross βˆ’ pension): 0% to RWF 60,000, 10%, 20%, then 30% above RWF 200,000.

Planning ahead: the rising rate

Budget note: the 2025 RSSB reform doesn't stop at 6%. From 2027 the pension rate rises 2 percentage points every year (split equally between you and your employer) until it reaches 12% β€” so a RWF 300,000 salary will eventually carry RWF 36,000 in pension deductions instead of today's 18,000. The maternity levy stays at 0.3%. If you're comparing a long-term job offer, run the numbers at the future rate too.
